Introducing Veda 96

Introducing Veda 96

If you’ve ever wanted to wake with the day instead of against it — in a window that traditions have long considered ideal for clarity and calm — you’re in the right place. Veda 96 is a Brahma Muhurta alarm app for iOS and Android. It sets your alarm automatically so you can wake in the sacred 48-minute window before sunrise: the “time of Brahma” in the Vedic tradition.

What is Brahma Muhurta?

Brahma Muhurta is the period that begins 1 hour 36 minutes before sunrise and ends 48 minutes before sunrise. In many texts and practices, the last 48 minutes of this window — the stretch right before the sun comes up — are especially valued. It’s a time when the world is still quiet, the mind is naturally receptive, and the transition from night to day feels gentle rather than jarring.

The catch? This window isn’t fixed. It shifts every single day and depends entirely on where you are. Sunrise in Tokyo is different from sunrise in London or São Paulo; and even in one city, the time moves with the seasons. Doing the math by hand is possible but tedious. Veda 96 does that math for you. Enter your location (or allow the app to use it), and the app calculates today’s Brahma Muhurta and sets your alarm so you wake within that window.

Why wake in this window?

Countless people — from ancient practitioners to modern early risers — report that waking in Brahma Muhurta (or in that final 48 minutes before sunrise) supports:

  • A calmer mind — fewer racing thoughts when you first open your eyes
  • Better focus — a clearer head for the first hours of the day
  • Less stress — a sense of alignment with natural rhythm instead of fighting the clock
  • A healthier daily rhythm — more consistent sleep and wake times tied to light and season

You don’t have to subscribe to any particular tradition to benefit. If you like the idea of waking in a quiet, pre-dawn window that moves with your location and the calendar, Veda 96 is built for that.

How Veda 96 works

  1. Sign in — Create an account or sign in so your alarm can follow you across devices.
  2. Allow location — The app uses your location to compute sunrise and thus Brahma Muhurta for your place and date.
  3. Set your alarm — Pick the time within the 48-minute window that works for you. The app sets the alarm; you just wake up.

No paywall, no premium tier. The goal is to make this one thing — waking in Brahma Muhurta — simple and accessible.

Why we made it free

We believe that something as basic as when you wake shouldn’t be locked behind a subscription. Veda 96 is free so that anyone who wants to try waking in this window can do it without friction. Sign in, allow location, set your alarm — that’s it.
