Veda 96 ("we", "our", or "the app") is a Brahma Muhurta alarm app. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Veda 96 mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account information

When you sign in, we receive and store:

  • With Google Sign-In: Your Google account identifier, email address, and display name (as provided by Google).
  • With Sign in with Apple: Your Apple account identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email (as provided by Apple).

This information is used to create and maintain your account and to associate your app data with your account.

1.2 Location data

  • We ask for your device location (latitude and longitude) so we can calculate sunrise time at your location and set your Brahma Muhurta alarm (the 48-minute window before sunrise).
  • If you grant permission, we may store your location coordinates in our database so the alarm can be calculated even when the app is not open. You can change or revoke location access in your device settings at any time.
  • We do not use location for advertising or to track you beyond what is needed for the alarm feature.

1.3 App usage data

We store the following in association with your account to provide and improve the app experience:

  • Whether you have completed onboarding.
  • Whether you have dismissed your first alarm (used to decide when to show the donation screen).
  • The last time we showed you the donation screen (used to space donation prompts, e.g. weekly).

1.4 Data stored only on your device

  • Alarm and notification settings are stored locally on your device.
  • Other app preferences may be stored locally (e.g. via device storage). We do not upload these to our servers unless they are part of your account data described above.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the app: Create and manage your account, sign you in, and sync your data across devices where you use the same account.
  • Calculate Brahma Muhurta: Use your location to compute sunrise and the Brahma Muhurta window and to set and update your alarm.
  • Improve experience: Remember onboarding and donation timing so we can show relevant screens and avoid repeating prompts unnecessarily.
  • Operate the service: Run authentication, databases, and infrastructure (e.g. via Firebase and related services).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

3. How We Store and Process Your Data

  • Firebase: We use Google's Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) to store account and app data. Firebase processes data according to Google's Privacy Policy and applicable data processing terms.
  • Location: Location coordinates are stored in Firestore only when you have granted location permission and we need them for the alarm. They are used solely for sunrise/Brahma Muhurta calculation.
  • Security: We rely on Firebase's security and access controls. Access to user data is limited to what is necessary to operate the app.

4. Data Retention

  • Account and Firestore data: We retain your account and associated data (email/display name, location, onboarding and donation-related flags) for as long as your account exists.
  • After account deletion: If you delete your account (or ask us to delete it), we will delete or anonymize your personal data in line with our retention and deletion procedures and applicable law. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period before being purged.

5. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access: You can see the account information we hold through your sign-in provider (Google or Apple) and through in-app account/settings where we expose it.
  • Location: You can turn off location access for Veda 96 in your device settings. The app may then use a default location (e.g. for display) or ask you to set a location again when needed.
  • Account deletion: You can delete your account via your device or sign-in provider settings. To request deletion of data we hold (e.g. in Firestore), contact us using the details below.
  • Opt-out of marketing: We do not send marketing emails or push marketing messages. Any optional notifications are limited to alarm and app functionality.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or other regions with similar laws, you may have additional rights (e.g. access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). Contact us to exercise them.

6. Children's Privacy

Veda 96 is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. International Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in countries where our service providers (including Google/Firebase) operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. contracts, standard contractual clauses) where required by law.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we may notify you in the app or by email where feasible.
